What kids actually need
Most kids play Roblox, Minecraft, Fortnite, and school Chromebook-style tasks. That usually means 16 GB of RAM, a discrete mid-range GPU if they play Fortnite or newer titles, and an SSD. You rarely need a $2,000 flagship system for a first gaming PC.
Keep it simple and upgradeable
Prefer clear component listings, enough case space, and a reputable seller return policy. Spending less now and upgrading the GPU later is often smarter than buying a flashy overpriced prebuilt.
